OPENING DAY OF THE CONVENTION!

Sorry for yelling the post title but I'm a little excited here.  So many fun things to see and do.  There were workshops, the Opening luncheon, the exhibit room opened, the sales room opened and roundtables are yet to come.  WHAT A DAY!

Here are pictures of some of the workshops.

Isn't it awesome to see young people in the workshops?

Later tonight I'll post pictures from the Luncheon but here are a few highlights.  Joan Carn won a $150.00 shopping spree. Sylvia Roundtree was recognized for being a member of NAME for 40 years.

Colleen Walker announced the following were Academy of Honor Honorees for this year:

Jane Payne

Carolyn Eiche

Shirley Duffton
There were shouts and tears of joy as these announcements were made. Congratulations to the Honorees.

More pictures of the luncheon, sales room, birthday party and roundtables in a bit. Talk to you later.

Pre-Convention Workshop Day 3 is over!

The last day of the pre-convention has come to a close.  Tomorrow is the first OFFICIAL day of the convention.

Here are some pictures of more of the workshops today.

Quiltin' Diva taught by Luci Hanson.
Reproduction Vintage Santa Table taught by Lew Kummerrow.

Here's the table minus the Santa which was making the rounds of the room for the student's benefit.

Emily Rose in 1897 Gown by JoAnne Roberts.

Remember all the garage sale boxes I listed earlier in the week?  Well, here are some of them unpacked and piled high on the tables.

Tomorrow is a busy day with the opening luncheon and photos of the ballroom and the luncheon will be added after the luncheon. The Sales Room and the Exhibit Room both open at 2:00 PM and the Birthday Party Theme Dinner is tomorrow night.

Stay tuned and talk to you soon!

Pre-Convention Workshop Day 3

Here we are on Day 3 of the Pre-Convention Workshops and there are so many fabulous classes that I'm truly jealous to not be taking them all. I have had such a good time walking around and looking at all the classrooms and listening in to all the wonderful advice and seeing the techniques first-hand.

Pete Boorum's Kentucky Side Table Workshop.

The Magic of the Drill Press taught by Tom Walden.

Everyone crowded around to see the "magic."

Tribute to Van Gogh taught by Gwen Campbell.

LED Lit Southern Dollhouse 1/144th scale by Charlotte Atcher.

1/4" They Flew the Coop taught by Jo Dewane.

They Flew the Coop chicken stand.

Ginger Landon Siegel's Elegant Bath Shop Workshop.

This evening I'll post more workshop photos and other sneak peeks but I'll close with this...

See all these wonderful boxes?  These are the centerpieces patiently waiting for tomorrow's opening luncheon.  I know you are going to love each and everyone of them.  They are all so wonderful.  We can each only keep our fingers crossed that we will be the winner of the centerpiece at our table!

So until later tonight when I post the next batch of pictures, have a lovely day and keep mini-ing!

Talk to you soon!

Pre-Convention Workshops Day Two is Over!

Oh my, where to start?  Already so many things have been going on and the convention hasn't officially started yet.  I helped some with decorating the ballroom for our meal functions and just let me tell you it is lovely and so much fun like the best 40th birthday party ever!  Thanks to Janet Chase and her crew for all their hard work. I'd show you pictures but it is so much better to get the full effect when you walk in the first time at a meal function.  After that, I promise pictures for those who are attending the convention in spirit.

Hospitality Room Fun
So many great workshops today that I shared earlier to show some of the attendees and their projects.  I'll include more of those tomorrow.  The Hospitality Room officially opened today and had a great crowd throughout the day. Thanks to Katrina Bailey and all her worker bees for this great palce to relax and visit with friends.

And just to whet your appetite, here are a few more close-ups of some of the roundtable offerings.  So many wonderful treasures. Sorry for any blurring from the glass cases!

More exciting news, the tables are set for the sales room and the set up begins tomorrow with the sales room opening Thursday at 2:00 PM!  Yours truly will be there with credit cards and cash in hand.  So many goodies, so little time.  Here's Rhonda, Roy and Darryl checking out the setup.

Tomorrow will be more Pre-Convention Workshops and the Biltmore House Tour hosted by Jane Payne. What a beautiful chateau Biltmore is and I am always inspired when I visit there. This will be followed by the GALA tomorrow night at the Charlotte Trolley Museum and I know that everyone in attendance will have a wonderful time.

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Pre-Convention Workshop - Day 2

Day 2 of the Pre-Convention Workshops is well underway and here are some of the photos to prove it!

Americana House

Polymer Clay Food

A Basket of Flowers Workshop

Hydrangea Bungalow

Victorian Girl

The Board met all day yesterday and just like Goldilocks and the bowls of porridge, their meeting room was too hot.  So they are meeting all day today and their room is apparently too cold since they are all bundled in blankets.  Right Nick?

If they were meeting tomorrow maybe it would be just right!  :)

Finally, Amy seems confused and her "straws" look suspiciously like paintbrushes and her "drink" looks suspiciously like a fancy paint water cup.  Be careful, hitting the "drinks" too early, Amy.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Holly's Delectables is offering a cash Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack bar each day with awesome food and great prices located at registration.

For dinner tonight, they are offering Chicken Francese with lemon butter sauce, rosemary roasted potatoes, sauteed haricot verts, pear salad, yeast rolls and carrot cake squares.  The food bar is located next to registration.  Check out the lunch spread.  Yummy!
